MerLiea

Hi everyone, thank you for dropping by.

I’m joining this week’s orange Tuesdays at Shengkay’s Randomness Journal. This is Liea, my daughter  – we call her often Merlia after Barbie’s famed Merlia Summers the mermaid Barbie.. lol.

Anyway, I would say this is the true influence of media, Merlia in that Barbie movie Mermedia is a surfing expert, so being a fan and collects a lot of this Mattel stuff, she then asked her father to buy her a surf board, unfortunately it was just too big for the pool so she settled for this body board.

We actually sent her for swimming lessons last summer while not an expert yet at least she’s learning, I think it’s just a matter of time and constant soaking on the water. :)

HI there, thanks for checking in here, I’ve been a busy mom lately, while I had time to check my mails, I had too little time to spend a little more to type in something for this blog.

Anyway, I think my brain is working a little bit today, I just thought of sharing some of my parenting styles.

You know I live in a country where family comes in priority for every citizenry, I’m always a believer in family traditions, while we struggle to establish a traditional family culture given the pace of our life today; here’s some simple tips I had successfully established in mine;

  • We invented a silent symbol in our family, one wink and we know what we gonna do next, a thumbs up is the most commonly used symbol but there’s nothing just so cool knowing everything is OK with just a thumb, or you can invent your own fit for your circumstance;
  • Some families aren’t so vocal about their feelings, while it is encouraged to say you love your kids at least once in 24 hours, big boys don’t quiet love to hear their mom shouting out loud, just a pat on their shoulder and hug tight for smaller ones are more than enough.
  • Encouraging kids to try out new every time. Sometimes even we parents are lazy to go out of our comfort zones, or maybe we’re just too tired, but doing this ahead of our kids, signals them that there’s a whole new world out there, let’s explore.
  • Splurge once a week on dessert. We do ice cream night outs on weekends, we just buy several pints and stay on lighted car-park and talk here and there.

So there, I think I have to end right at this point, need to do some mama chores again. See yah!
